The cultural project INBOVISA was born from the desire of different realities to meet and achieve an urban renewal of the district. In its mission Associazione Zona Bovisa is flanked by important and valid actors.
Milan has a long tradition of professional design practice, which grew out of the material culture of craftsmanship and industry in Lombardy at the beginning of the last century and boomed after the war and in the fifties with an original, authoritative voice. In 1993 Milan, with its Politecnico, became the elective birthplace of the Degree Course in Industrial Design, the first of its kind in Italy. The Politecnico is a place of avant-garde training, a meeting point of different cultures. It links architectural and artistic studies, with their creativity and focus on form, to technical, scientific and engineering studies. The history of the Degree Course in Industrial Design – Design Faculty since June 2000 and now the Design School – is characterized by its constant desire to experiment innovative, experimental development lines that respond to the real market needs of contemporary society. The Design School in the Politecnico di Milano is today the largest international university for the training of product, communication, interior and fashion designers, both by number of students and of teaching staff.
Cilab is a research lab in Design Department of Politecnico di Milano: it’s a network of professors, researchers and professionals that “travel” in design and creative industries galaxies, in order to provide added values for industries through design driven innovation approach as a leverage to grow. Which industries? First of all the Creative and Cultural Industries, but not only. In fact, the design driven innovation represents a successful model for the SMEs in all sectors.
Re.Rurban Studio s.n.c. is a communication, events and design studio. It was founded in 2009 as a cultural association engaged in urban development projects, with a special regard to Milanese farmhouses. Experiences that allow us to develop new skills and build our team, currently composed of 3 professional partners, which is aimed at companies, social enterprises and organizations, offering planning and implementation of communication strategies, services, products and events. Re.Rurban Studio also develops self-made projects: events dedicated to design, with Zona Santambrogio – Do Ut Design project (one of the official district of Milan Design Week), and Inhabits Design City, a project dedicated to sustainable and contemporary architecture, hosted in Piazza Castello and Parco Sempione. Involved in the construction of InBovisa district, promoters and creators of the street food festival Eat Urban, and also a series of projects for interior and furnitures, 100% sustainable fashion and projects of lighting special sets with RE_light brand.

Initiated by Yu Jinggan (Yugong), academician of United Nations Academy of Ecological and Life Science and a merit designer of China, HOAA is funded and established by China Jiangxi Yiou Culture Development Co., Ltd. and headquartered in Milan——the design and fashion capital of the world. Located in the center of BOVISA, Milan, Lombardy, Italy. HOAA International Headquarter Building covers an usable floor area of more than 4,000㎡, and is expected to be a landmark of art & design in this area upon its completion. Centering on design, education and exhibition; we have professional departments of“Milan HOAA International Design Center”, “Milan HOAA International Education Center” and “Milan HOAA International Exhibition Center” as its operation direction, HOAA is devoted to bring Chinese art & design to the world, and introduce the valuable resources of the world to China, with an aim to build an art & design as the center, international resource and service platform and forge a special exhibition and pioneering platform for Chinese designers and artists.
Birrificio La Ribalta turned on its lights in May 2015 after a long journey from three young students, that started to produce beer with pots and stoves between the walls of an house, experiencing immediately daring mixtures. La Ribalta is today an open brewery, which knows how to spread the art of craft beer and genuine cuisine, but also a place for meeting and comparison, where you can listen to live music in a design-based environment, that is at the same time warm and informal.
Lucchesedesign studio operates all over the world with different levels of projects depending on the client’s request, showing a great capacity to adapt to different contexts and offering a wide approach and a 360 ° perspective of the services. The opening of the new headquarters in Nanjing in China makes the structure competitive for working in the Asian market from a logistical point of view and provides customers with a close assistance while ensuring a direct presence in the territory. The studio works in many different fields and offers a wide range of product design projects thanks to the collaboration with many Italian and foreign leading companies; product design is addressed from a 360° perspective as we take care of all aspects.
Sovrappensiero Design Studio was born in Milan in 2007 from the creative collaboration between Lorenzo De Rosa and Ernesto Iadevaia. Their first innovative project, “Design for blind people”, is presented at Salone Satellite in 2008 and since then, the path articulated through continuous experimentation, between research and industrial production, to which the duo tenaciously applies their delicate poetic and dreamlike vision. Recognized among the most interesting emerging designers in the Italian landscape, they collaborate with several companies of Italian design as Porada, Incipit, Corraini and Manerba, which authored the research project Office + Retrofit selected for the ADI design Index. In 2014 they won the first prize in the competition “Young & Design”, with the project “Cook” realized for the company Mamoli. Product design is combined with interior design and furnishings, communication and education at the Politecnico di Milano.

FabLab Milano is a fully equipped digital manufacturing laboratory, a place of sharing and coworking, designed to put students in communication with companies, artisans with businesses. FabLab Milano facilitates the exchange of ideas and the birth of new projects and offers personalized services dedicated to create ideas of any kind. FabLab is located in the heart of the industrial area of Milano Bovisa. It is part of the FabLab Network, a global network born 10 years ago from an idea by Neil Gershenfeld, director of the Center for bit and atoms in Boston.
Laboratorio Controprogetto designs and manufactures unique pieces, custom-made furnishings, fittings and public spaces using recycled materials, also through participated construction paths. It was founded in 2003 in Milan within the participatory urban redevelopment experience of the Stecca degli Artigiani, a multidisciplinary container of crafts, associations and art. Born from a group of friends, students looking for a container in which to experiment, build, feel free, contribute to the creation of a better city together with interesting and committed people. In these years the group has grown, enriching itself with people, meetings, ideas and projects. In 2009, they arrived in via Tertulliano 70, a new territory rich in incentives and heterogeneous realities in which to continue the growing path.
Coltivando is a university garden, open to the Bovisa district located inside Politecnico di Milano – Campus Durando. It is an action of sociability that makes the residents of the neighborhood collaborate with the university’s students and teachers, to cultivate and manage a shared and convivial vegetable garden. It is a way to open the campus public space to the neighborhood. It is a means of sharing knowledge, experiences and facilitating the connection between the campus and the urban fabric.
